Randy Rogers Band

We had talked to Brad about taking Jordie to a concert while they were here. I think they stayed Friday just so that we could go. I hope that they had as good a time as Matt and I did.

Here we are enjoying Randy Rogers at Billy Bob's, which I just found out was Brad's treat. Thanks for taking all of us Brad!

Christmas 2008

We had a full house for Christmas this year, to say the least. We ended up with a lot of my family here at our home and we were so glad to have them. My brother Brad, his wife Kim, their 3 kids, Haleigh, Blake and Jordan, Haleigh's husband and for some of the time my mom and dad.
Here is Anna Grace with Uncle Brad and Aunt Kim. She woke up stuffy the day before they arrived and Kim got a few cuddles out of that. Anyone with a 2 year old knows those are few and far between, so enjoy them while you can!
Here is Anna Grace getting Blake to color with her. It was the preferred place to play pre-Christmas presents. She kept saying that she was doing her letters and she was making the letter "e" over and over.
Our Christmas traditions don't typically start until dinner time on Christmas Eve. We have beef tenderloin, that Matt cooks to perfection. (That was Matt's Christmas Day tradition growing up and when we were married, my mom took it over to incorporate part of his traditions into ours. Now my niece insists that they have it as well :) We put Anna Grace to bed and got ready for 11 pm church. We sent some people early to save seats and then woke AG up, dressed her in a Christmas dress, curled her hair and took her with us to mass. She was a little more awake than last year, but not much! She did exceptionally well. Matt and I opted to wait to take our pictures until after church so that Anna Grace could be a part of them. It sounded okay in theory, but she was way to tired to pose for pictures. She took this one and then said, "I don't want to smile anymore!" So this was the only shot of us and we managed to snap one of my nieces and nephews. Although I love this picture, I can't believe we didn't get any shots with everyone. It too is another great family tradition to set up the tripod and the timer.
Here are a few shots of Christmas morning. When Anna Grace saw her new table and chairs from Nonna and V she was ecstatic. She could have sat there all Christmas I think. It is a great present and I love it too! I had to coax her back over to see what Santa Claus brought for her.
But once she came to see it, she was hooked. I think she went back over to her table and would have happily played play-doh all day. :)
Then she opened a few more gifts. I love this shot that Jordan took. She was carrying the box over for daddy to open. He had all the "tools" necessary for the parent-proof boxes. She was patient because that can be a lengthy process!
We got Anna Grace dressed for Christmas dinner and Aunt Kim and Jordie taught AG a new pose. They would say, "I'm gorgeous" and she would strike this pose. Isn't she funny? The other hilarious part of this pose is the shoes. She wore them to pancakes with Santa weeks ago and I put them away. I told her that they were Christmas shoes and we would wear them later. She remembered them so well and wanted to wear the shiny shoes all day. Even today she asked if she could put them on. I have said before that she inherited my love for shoes :)
And we snapped this picture on Friday. It was the last day with Brad and family. Thank you Jordie for sharing all the shots. Our camera died first thing Christmas morning and without these, I wouldn't have a single picture!
We love y'all and miss you already. I am so thankful we were able to spend our Christmas surrounded by you.

Gingerbread houses

We waited and waited for Nonna to come for Christmas so that we could make the gingerbread houses. Or, as AG was calling them for weeks, "beer houses". I am not sure where that came from, but it made all of us laugh.

Anyway, we opted to make them out of graham crackers this year to try to make sure we kept Anna Grace's attention. Here we all are during the decoration.

And here are AG and I putting marshmallows on the roof.

And lastly, the finished product. Cheese!

Pat Green!

We went to our annual PG show yesterday. It is always a great show and we had a good time. Nonna and V came just in time to watch the peanut and give us the afternoon and evening alone.

After the concert we went to a Christmas party at John Chris and Candice's. I was a great day and even better when we got to sleep in this morning. :)

Expectations

Here's our latest news in the Pearson house and the reason there have been so few posts lately.

This was taken in November and I am now 12 weeks pregnant. We went in today and heard the heartbeat and everything looks great. I have been pretty sick with this pregnancy and that's been difficult for AG.
We are accepting suggestions for a nickname. Something non-gender again because we won't find out the sex. AG was always, and still is our peanut.

Christmas tree

We bought our tree on Saturday morning. Our neighbor joked that we were going to get a Charlie Brown tree and I didn't know how serious she was. There was hardly anything left. Anna Grace like decorating it with ornaments and putting the star on top.

She even took a small break in the middle of the process.

After we finished dinner that evening I took my favorite ornament from childhood off the tree to read to her. It is a little book of Twas the Night Before Christmas. I remember sitting under the tree every night growing up and reading this story. That book was well loved then and now.

'tis the season

Christmas in my house always meant that there were Grandma Weedie's cinnamon rolls in the house. Although the big tradition was to eat them Christmas morning, as long as she was in town, there were rolls. When I was growing up, she used to stay with our family for 6 weeks during the winter. So for most of December and January that's what was for breakfast.

I learned how to make her infamous rolls years ago, but the first batch is never quite right. For that reason, I start cranking them out early in December so that the ones on Christmas morning are not a flop. Yesterday was the first batch and Anna Grace could hardly keep her nose out of the mixer. I understand the anticipation, I can totally relate to wanting to eat one right now!

Pancakes with Santa

We spent the morning with some friends that we met through church. We went to Pancakes with Santa at the Fort Worth Club and had so much fun. Bear with me because I couldn't resist all the pictures. Here is Anna Grace with Santa. She didn't smile, but she didn't scream like last year either :)

We tried to pose the kids for a quick pictures with their balloons and neither one wanted any part of it. Here is AG with Eli. It's the only shot I got of them together.

Then, Matt "helped" her make a snowman.

After that she was off to dance with the band. They called the children up to sing Jingle Bells with them. Anna Grace went up and stood with all these big kids and even said her full name in the microphone. I was so proud of her!

Then they called a parent up there to help them sing the words. Here she is pulling me out of my shell.

And lastly, a family shot. I can't thank our friends enough for inviting us along.

Thanksgiving Week

We all loaded up in the Tahoe again on Monday for a trip to Nashville. Gigi, Grandpa, Matt and I were all dreading the trip, but AG seemed not to care. It was great once we were all there and is so special to have the 4 cousins all together.

Here is AG with Wade and Kyle dancing on Tuesday morning. They seem to like the same kind of wild dancing.

Then Gigi started reading a story. I don't know who was first to get the story, but soon all 3 were crowded around. Doesn't she look in her element?

And of course the trash man was another highlight. They walk the street in their neighborhood and he even waved to the kids.

We also got to visit story time while we were there. At the end they invited all the kids to sit on the stage and Anna Grace was right up there without a shy bone in her body.

Here is what AG would have happily done all day if she had been allowed. Every few minutes she wanted to know where Baby Paige was and what she was doing. In fact, when we called to tell them we had arrived back home, AG asked "where's baby Paige?"

Here is AG helping me roll out the rolls for Thanksgiving dinner.

We tried and tried to get a shot of all of them on the sofa. We had 2 willing participants, one that doesn't have a choice, and one that was forced :)

It was a wonderful week, and it's quite hard to believe that it's over already. Thank you to B&B for hosting, we had a wonderful holiday with y'all.

Gorillas

Uncle Brad and family got this cute little shirt for AG this weekend. I have clearer pictures, but she is beating her chest in this one. Go Gregory Gorillas! Thanks for the shirt.

More on South Dakota

We had some wonderful moments while we were in South Dakota. I was glad to be with some of our family to grieve with me. Anna Grace was able to lighten the mood several times throughout the time there. For instance, as we were loading up to go to the visitation, Anna Grace spouts off, "Mommy, I don't like winter." Then, at the visitation after Nonna spoke AG patted her on the back and said, "You did good Nonna!"

Amidst all the bad weather outside, we took some time to cuddle on the couch. AG was in love with Jordie and when we left Sunday morning AG asked, "where's my Jordie?"

Here's the final group dinner. I know that grandma would have loved to look down the long table full of her family.

It's hard to say good-bye to the family, no matter what we gather for. It was a long drive home yesterday and Anna Grace was a pro. We hit Texas yesterday before she started saying "I want out of my car seat!" We all could agree with that! We left at 5:15 am and got home about 7.

Grandma Weedie, we love you and miss you. We toast you, today and always!

Weedie's party

We had the funeral for my grandmother today. It was in the middle of a blizzard and the church was full. The service was beautiful and we have the entire town to thank for that.

As we were leaving for the funeral, my brother drove into a snow bank. It was so entertaining and took at least 30 minutes for them to dig out the car. (Complete with the neighbors bobcat.)

In true Weedie celebration, the party followed when we were all together back at the house. Jordie suggested some cinnamon rolls and it sounded perfect for tomorrow's breakfast.

Grandpa V tried on AG's new flashing jewelry, earrings and all.

And of course, there were duck farts.

Then we turned on the music to dance a little at AG's request. Here she is in the jewelry and dancing to the "lo lo" song.

South Dakota

We have spent a few much needed days in Gregory with my family. Here are a few pics of yesterday. Here's Anna Grace "checking her email" on the computer.

My uncle took Matt out for a little pheasant hunt yesterday as well. He shot the first 2 he saw, not too bad for his first time out. He is pleased that he went yesterday because a storm blew through today. There's a blizzard warning today. Brr!

The visitation is tonight and there will be a service tomorrow.

Flower girl

I had a few shots taken in Anna Grace's flower girl dress. Nonna and I spent a few hours on this dress for Haleigh's wedding that was Labor Day weekend.

96 years young

Yesterday my family heard the news that my grandmother has passed away. I have been so influenced by her throughout my whole life and will dearly miss her presence. I learned how to make her famous cinnamon rolls a few years ago and it is a gift I will always treasure. She is the reason that we have nightly family happy hours, she insisted that whiskey and water is the secret to health.

I again ask for your prayers this week as my family travels to South Dakota for the services. There will be huge celebrations of the life she lead. I love you Grandma Weedie!

Happy Halloween

We carved a few little pumpkins yesterday afternoon. Anna Grace and I had a blast doing it. Here she is helping take out the seeds.

Today we trick-or-treated with the neighbors. A few years ago there weren't any kids on our block. Now there are 5 girls. AG loves to hang with the big girls and they are usually more than happy to let her.

She walked a couple of blocks with Isabelle and really got the hang of the candy. By the last house she reached in and got her own candy out even. Oops! Hope that y'all had a wonderful Halloween.

Bailey

This was our last family picture this weekend. Bailey was such a special dog and loved by almost everyone that met him. We will miss him dearly! Please say a prayer for all of us today.
