Awards day, part 2.

Her 4th grade class.  We are losing a couple of kids this year and that is really hard.  These sweet kiddos have been together since kinder!

As room mom I also helped host their party.  I love seeing her with all her friends.

This just makes me laugh to see so many of their personalities in one pic.  It hardly seems possible that this is only one more year of elementary school.

Oops forgot to snap the pic with us and school so we did as soon as we got home.

Awards day

Today we had 2 awards ceremonies and some short class parties following.  They are scheduled such that Matt took the day off so that he could join us!  Here is ML walking across the stage.

And her sweet class which is missing their beloved teacher.  Her father got sick this week and she had to miss the last few days of school.

And lastly a picture with mom and dad.  It has been such an amazing year for her!  Onto second grade.

1, 2, 3 jump

Judy invited us today to dinner and swim.  The cousins always have fun in the pool with one another and today was no exception.  They wanted me to take some pictures and I love how ML is in every shot.

She knows where that camera is!

Colonial

It is Sunday at the golf tourney.  The girls asked several times when they got to go this year.  I usually end up going on Friday, but this year I couldn't because of school obligations.  It was fun to spend a quiet afternoon on the course.

Colonial Friday

We have a little bit of a tradition on the Friday nights following Colonial..  We usually have a sitter and go out with Mere and Troy.  They year we weren't rushing home to a sitter though so we went back for a nightcap.

1st grade picnic

The rain has moved our annual first grade picnic into the gym.  The girls are happily playing a board game while the boys are running around crazy.

Estate Sale

It is a perfectly icky day, but there is an estate sale really close to the house.  Mom insisted we go before they opened and stand in the weather.  Daddy waited in the car to finish his coffee and when we turned around we saw him with ML's umbrella.  Such a good sport!

Red nose day

It's the National Red Nose day.  Silliness for a good cause!

Reading

ML is supposed to read every night for 20 minutes.  Today she picked up my library book, The Craft Cocktail Party and went to town.  We sounded out everything from Angostura bitters to Benedictine.  She is ready to make a Southland Sipper, her chosen cocktail for happy hour!

Career Day

I'm not going to sugar coat this.  I despise these last minute dress up days.  It's the end of the year and I'm ready for summer.  A few years ago I read a Jen Hatmaker post about her feelings on the subject.  (Google it if you don't know it by heart)  She mentions signing reading and behavior logs for weeks at a time (I just did 4 weeks this last Friday!)  So I wasn't too thrilled about gathering a costume for today.  But if you don't dress up you have to wear the dreaded uniform, so it's a big deal.  AG is dressed as a mom/yoga instructor.  #momwin #isitsummeryet?

Free dress

The girls got a free dress day today if they donated $1 to a charity.  It creates so much drama when they can wear anything.  I love our school uniforms!!

Sunday funday

Daddy has to work so I took the girls to their favorite spot for lunch.  They say "wheels off" - which is usually directly proportional to the sugar intake!

Birthday traditions

These sweet friends almost always blow out their candles right next to each other.  Happy birthday to our Sweet Em!

They had this bounce house water slide in the front yard - and they may or may not have talked a couple adults into sliding after the party ended.  I am thankful that there aren't pictures of that part of the party.

Piano recital

Anna Grace learned a new piece in a short 2 weeks for the recital.  She did an amazing job today!

Family dinner

We love sharing a meal with this family and to watch all the kiddos brings so much joy!  It doesn't happen as often as it used to,  but maybe that is why I treasure every moment now.

Superhero

It's super hero field day!  The girls were ready to walk away and I remembered I hadn't snapped a single pic!  I'm pretty sure no one honked in car pool.  Oops!

Spanish Immersion program

Tonight is the annual Spanish Immersion Program.  The girls have been working really hard with each of their classes to make tonight's performance great!  AG stole the stage with her class.  I can't tell you how many people talked about her performance.  She had a blast and it showed.

Morgan Leigh was in the front row dancing a Cuban dance.  All the kids are barefoot and it was so cute!

In Anna Grace's class they each took the mic and told the story that they would be dancing to.  (In Spanish of course, so I'm not so sure what the story was :)

Then they did the sweetest little dance where the boys chase the girls.

We took Gigi and Grandpa out for dinner at one of my favorite spots tonight as well.  Who knows what ML just said to Grandpa - but she is certainly posing.

Lunch dates

Nothing can brighten my day more than a surprise lunch with a friend and this sweet face!  #almostsummer

District Walk

This morning we were at our high school bright and early to participate in the district walk.  The school with the most participants is awarded money for equipment and our sweet school won the second year in a row!!

Mom of the year

I got on FB last night and saw a post from a mom about how many milestones they have had along their "timeline".  That was for the school project that was due in the morning and I had totally forgotten!!!  So Matt and I printed out a bunch of pictures and prepped the poster board.

ML luckily woke up ready to get to work!

She was very proud of the end result and I will say it doesn't look too bad for a morning project.  #almostamomfail

Mother's Day

 It's Mother's Day and one of our traditions after church is to update my Facebook pictures.  I love that mom was here to be in one of the pictures too!  I love these two gifts that made me a mom and I thank God daily for the joy that they bring to me!

Derby time

Mere and I have always wanted to host a derby party with hats and fancy clothes.  We are doing a pared down version today with just our families, but there will be hats.  I think half the fun was making the creations!

We all bet on the horses and then drew out of a hat which would be ours.  ML won by a landslide!

We love sharing memories with each of them!  Happy Derby!

Teachers snacks

My volunteer position this year has been staff appreciation.  This week in honor of the teachers we are doing a little something each day.  I have some pretty cute taste testers!
