We got to meet ML's buddy at story time today. Such a treat to watch them interact.

Butterflies

Today we released our butterflies from Christmas. AG was a little upset to see them go, but we will get more soon!

Tangrams

Morgan Leigh sat down to do her new tangrams from Nonna and V for Valentines day. Yellow hexagons first.

Jam packed

 As usual while my parents are here, we squeeze everything in.  The Cat in the Hat visited our story time and I was sure that we didn't want to miss that.  ML sat up on the bench for longer than I expected before joining Nonna and I for the story.

Nonna and I planned a PEI mussel dinner for the evening.  It is one of her favorite meals, and so we fixed a feast!  ML was helping me roll our the gnocchi, or just putting flour everywhere...

Morgan Leigh got just about every game we own out to have V play with her.  She is getting really good at Hi Ho Cherry-O, but Chutes and Ladders is a little beyond.

Nonna and I spent the afternoon shopping and when we got home I snapped this.  I loved seeing V teach AG some math skills.  She is obsessed with most things math related right now, so this shot is priceless!

Thanks Nonna and V for squeezing in another visit.  Nonna played, she cooked, she shopped and she drank wine, and I didnt get her in a single picture.  Love you both!

Gone Fishing

Today's snack was a huge hit!  (Thanks pinterest!)  We "fished" with celery sticks...

Daddy's weekend

Daddy had the girls to himself all weekend.  He took them to dinner Friday night, Saturday lunch, and Saturday dinner....He lucked out because a friend's dad asked them to meet at Chick Fil A to play.  Nothing like a little sugar to make a restful afternoon!

He had the girls to himself because I signed up for the ladies' retreat at church.  I spent the weekend with these amazing women (+2 more not pictured) and 45 women from a nearby church.  I can't wait to go again next year!

Story time

I think that Morgan Leigh has asked to go to story time every day this week.  We finally made it!  It really should be a regular thing on my calendar and I am making an effort to leave story day open.

Happy Valentine's Day

Morgan Leigh and I started the day with a batch of red velvet cheesecake brownies.  She was excited to bake and lick the bowl clean all by herself.

This just so happens to be one of the weeks that Matt is home and we took full advantage.  I got to go up for the Valentine's day party this afternoon and see AG with her class.

We had fun opening presents as soon as AG and I walked in the door.  The girls were very excited about the $1 balloons....

I couldn't resist snapping one of him opening his gift.  We usually do small token gifts and I think I surprised him this year.

We even ate dinner on the china in the dining room.  It was a fancy evening and a fun way to all be together.  I hope that you were able to share your day with ones that you love as well!

Not outdone

While I was cleaning up the kitchen today, ML decided that she would read to herself like her sister does.  I have a short video on my phone with it.  She was sounding out words (hhhhhaaaammmm) and I do not like them! 

Valentine's Dance

Our church has a fabulous tradition of a dinner and dance the Sunday near Valentine's day.  The girls were all smiles when we arrived.

And ready to start dancing shortly after that.  There is something so special about seeing a daddy teaching his daughters to dance.

Success!

Anna Grace made it through her first book.  Before church today she wanted to read the ENTIRE book.  I had suggested a Dr. Seuss, and was thinking along the lines of Go Dog, Go! or The Foot Book, but she had other things in mind.  We sat after breakfast this morning and read until we were late for church.  Such a big day peanut!

Visits

Gigi and Grandpa Tom came for a visit this week.  The girls were super excited about their arrival.  In fact, at 7:30 am ML wanted to draw the shades to see if they had arrived yet.  I replied, "they'll be here after your nap."  Without pause she said, "I'm ready for my nap now." 

Gigi brought along some valentine's presents for the girls.

And as usual, Grandpa Tom has the sweets.  ;)  It was great to see them, we always love to have them here.

Homemade with love

My posts lately have been so redundant....we LOVE our new kitchen.  We spend most of our weekday afternoons in here.  Today the project was dinner.  I gave the girls their choice for a dinner menu and was quickly told we were to try chicken nuggets.  I found a copy cat recipe for the "cow" place and we were in business.  AG said they were better than the "cow" place and I think they were one of the best copycat recipes we've tried in a while!  Maybe everything tastes better homemade and when you get to help.

Stockshow day

We took the girls to the rodeo today.  It is a school holiday and why not enjoy one of the last days of the rodeo.  We saw Elsie and got milk.

We watched the cow milking demonstration, at Morgan Leigh's insistence.  I guess that it made quite an impression when we went last week.

And lastly, at the actual rodeo.  It was a fun day, and we were all exhausted afterwards.

Sock buns

I have given Anna Grace the straightest hair on earth.  We have been experimenting with sock buns at night.  Today was our first real success and we had to snap a picture before school.
