Spinning

The girls got clever today and figured out how to share the sit 'n spin.  This special family always thinks of us when Matt is gone.  What a blessing they are to us!

Book worm

It's one of the perks of summer, that I will let you read longer after bedtime.  Unfortunately, I can't keep up with the addiction and have taken to letting her read on the iPad so that we aren't at the library every day :)

Playdate

I dropped AG for a playdate today and when she arrived they treated her like a rock star.  She had some much fun with her school friend!  The mom said, I took this because she fits right in.  ML and I had our own fun playdate with just her friends.

Good-byes

We headed to San Antonio for a quick trip to trade cars, and say good-bye to my brother.  He is no longer a Texan and I am sad to see them move.  We have enjoyed every minute of having them close enough for weekends like this.  Grandpa squeezed in a cuddle with the girls during happy hour.

Road Tripping

I didn't post last week that mom and I had a crazy idea.  We decided to drive to North Carolina for the week to go furniture shopping.  The crazy part is that the girls have 5 days of VBS with Gigi and Grandpa and mom will have been home for two days before we leave.

Crazy as it was, it has been a wonderful trip.  We both bought new furniture for entire rooms.  On a whim our first night, I sent two Facebook messages to some childhood friends.  I said we would be in the state and hoped we could meet.  We couldn't all three be together on such short notice, but I got to see Gail at lunch Friday.  She was one of the friends that made me laugh so hard at a sleepover, that I had Trix come out of my nose at breakfast.  When we reconnected we joked that we have lived parallel lives for a long time.  It's so good to be back in touch!

That evening we met Emily at a halfway point for us.  She was part of the sleepover I mentioned above.  These girls shaped who I became and I loved getting to see the women they have become.  I hope that we can all meet together sometime soon.  Tomorrow is the return trip.  I think that when it's all said and done we will have driven 2600 miles and laughed most of the way!  Love you mom for being crazy with me.

The car

ML was not thrilled that she did not get to "pick" her next bike.  I am sure that is a hard thing to understand, but there are so many other things to get.  We have "restored" a Barbie Jeep and she is over the moon.  In fact, watching them in the driveway today was enough to make me giggle.  Lots of fun cruising in her future for sure!

Cake and ice cream

We celebrated the girls birthdays all week long at Disney.  I had promised (when the dessert for ML's was terrible) that we could make cake and ice cream soon to celebrated their birthdays.  Today is the day.  They mixed up a batch of our favorite recipe and we will make a cake for it this afternoon.  Happy Birthday girls!

First loves...

I remember mine, and maybe love isn't the right word.  But Anna Grace has a very special friend that was in pre-school with her.  The teacher commented right away that the relationship was different.  They always knew what each other was doing, but didn't play exclusively.  They even "got married and had a jumping party".  Fast forward two FULL years...They haven't seen one another since pre-school and she still refers to him often.  I found this picture in her school papers this summer.  Her special friend for sure.  I know his mom well so she has a copy of this as well.

Pool time

These girls are having a fabulous time in the backyard.  What a great week we've had being at home and being with each other!

NEW BIKES!

Here is the first morning ride on our new bikes.  Now that AG has gotten a new bike....there is a "new" bike for ML as well.  Happy riding!

UGH!

Our vacation was just enough time for our "stocked" pantry to become invaded.  I bought millet and didn't have a container for it.  Those pesky little things are everywhere and I am totally grossed out.  However, I think that given a challenge, I could feed our family for a really long time.....

Birthday girl

We have celebrated and celebrated these girls this summer.  Birthdays at Disney, cake for breakfast, etc.  However, today is the actual day that is Anna Grace's birthday.  She pick Mellow Mushroom for dinner and it couldn't be more appropriate.  After all, 7 years ago, it was our last dinner out before she was born.  Happy birthday sweet AG.  You will always be our peanut!

7!!

Today is Anna Grace's actual birthday.  Since we aren't walking the streets of Disney, we are planning to go search for bikes. But first, nothing says birthday like Grandma Weedie's cinnamon rolls.

Three bike stores calls for sweets at McKinley's.  And she picked a new PINK bike.  We stopped to show it to Aunt Betsy, since she recognized how close we were. She picked dinner at Mellow Mushroom as soon as daddy returns from work.

Happy Birthday Peanut!  We feel so blessed for all that you teach us daily of gratitude and God's love.

4th of July!

We started this 4th at our dear friends again.  We supplied the cinnamon rolls and they do the rest.  It's an early morning, but such a fun tradition.

We decorated our scooters this year for a parade that is in town.  The girls also learned that since you have to wear a helmet, you should decorate that too.

We stayed for lunch and were all exhausted by 3.  We came home and napped for two hours....

And then rode in the Chevelle to a nearby church to watch all the fireworks shows.

We could easily see three great shows!  Happy 4th y'all!

Devotionals

One of my only goals for this summer was to make sure that we had all had a routine for our devotional time.  AG was my easy one for this.  She loves her daily devotional and most days reminds me.  Today she decorated her chalkboard with a scripture.

Bike riding

We are easing back into our non-vacation routine.  The best time to ride bikes in a Texas summer is 8:30 am.  So we headed out to a rarely used, flat street this morning.

It became painfully obvious that AG is in need of a new bike....
